Disney R.E.A.D. Case Study: Theodore Rand designed and deployed Disney’s Rules Engine and Accountability Database (R.E.A.D.), a Salesforce-based compliance platform created to govern more than 700 mobile apps and digital products across Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, ABC Digital, ESPN, and other business units. Acting as the sole embedded technologist, business analyst, and system administrator within Corporate Legal Privacy Compliance, he built a mandatory pre-production intake process, automated audience-classification and regulatory rules engines, a centralized third-party SDK compliance database, and technical QA integrations using network-traffic validation. The system shifted compliance from a reactive release-stage activity to a structured, automated development requirement and earned a 2018 Best of Disney Technology Award nomination for Efficiency & Automation.
UCLA Anderson Executive Education Case Study: Theodore Rand designed and progressively expanded a Salesforce Enterprise Edition platform that unified UCLA Anderson Executive Education’s B2C and B2B operations across sales, program management, registration, session delivery, invoicing, payments, and financial reporting. The architecture uses Opportunity plus six custom objects, at least 354 organization-specific fields across seven core objects, 22 roll-up summaries, 26 custom relationships, Salesforce Flow, formulas, validation rules, Visualforce invoice generation, and integrations with FormAssembly, Account Engagement/Pardot, and payment workflows. The result is a single operational system connecting the full sales-to-delivery-to-cash lifecycle, improving financial visibility, reducing manual re-entry, strengthening data controls, and supporting cross-functional work among sales, marketing, program management, finance, and technology operations.
